USB Modem

Thu Sep 26, 2019 12:14 pm

Hi guys

I've just been looking at your product, and it looks very good!

I'm currently on ADSL and I'm using a USB modem to connect (Alcatel SpeedTouch USB). I noticed that this isn't on the list of supported hardware, but there are Linux drivers for it, so would I be able to use those drivers with MikroTik?

And does MikroTik allow me to split bandwidth? I've ordered 4MB ADSL and I'd like to be able to game while others on my LAN use the internet as normal without getting lag spikes. On my current 512KB ADSL connection, when someone opens a webpage I get a slight lag.

Thanks!

Huyen

Beware that queues work well on the sending side of the bottle neck (i.e. your ADSL link), but can help only slightly on the receiving side (and only for TCP, doesn't help for UDP & co). So if the problem in your case is downlink, queues on your router might help but can't cure the problem.
