Wrong ethernet speed negotiation

Sat Oct 12, 2019 7:22 pm

Hi all

i have 2 LHG G-5acD-XL connected through nstreme.
each LHG is connected to a 1Gbps switch using cat 6 cable.
Cable are tested and OK

But on both sides, the ethernet is running at 100Mbs full duplex rate :(
system are up to date. (6.45.6 package version & firmware)

on site A, i see that the LHG advertise 1Gbps but "link partner" is advertising 100Mbps
a.PNG
On site B i see that the LHG advertise only 100Mbs, and does not advertise 1Gbps
b.PNG

changing Switch does not work
setting auto neg to off and forcing 1Gpbs does not work (thanks "safe mode")
do you have an idea ?

I have seen such things happen in radio transmission towers where there are strong transmitter signals at FM and DAB frequencies.

You mean interferences going to the cable ?
in my case both site are domestic area, without strong interferences

on site B, the LHG don't advertise 1Gbps, that's strange.
Cable on both site are not from the same manufacturer, so i excluded a problem on both cable at the same time
Cable on site A is 30 meter long
cable on site B is 40 meter long

Stupid question: is interface on Site B configured to advertise 1000M at all (have needed options ticked)?

Remember only the AC type LHG can do 1G, the N type is 100 Mbit.
You also have to use the power inserters that come with it, not some leftover type from another device.

On site B, if i uncheck then re-check the 1Gbs checkbox, i see in the status that the LHG advertise 1Gpbs. 5 secondes later, it's gone, and i only see 10/100 half/full :(
Edit: resetting device does not help

Tried to downgrad without success.. last this to do is to check both cables...
1 is cat 5e, the other is cat6
