Load Balancing

Fri Apr 27, 2007 4:39 pm

I'm looking for a solution to do a load balancing on Mikrotik Router OS with 2 WAN Connections but with different type of connection for those WAN connections.

1st WAN: STATIC.
2nd WAN: DHCP.

I've checked the examples at WIKI and they are v. simple but i'm doubting if one of my WAN's is a DHCP Client so the examples will work for me!!!...

please any comment or help would be highly appreciated.

Maroon,

You will still have pretty close to the same setup as the wiki has, the only difference is you will need a script to run that will check if the gateway ip changes... Of course this is only true if you gateway changes.

For your second WAN, does the IP address to the gateway ever change?

I checked with the provider if they can dedicate/fix an IP for me. and they're gonna do it. but some curiousity about the Dynamic IP/Gateway. u've mentioned later about a script that do the job if IP/GW changes.
1st- please can you show up with your script
2nd- if I always lease IP from the same subnet and I always pass-through the same GW and I added manually the GW on the routing table. does it work?

I think the answer to the 2nd question is - it will not work - still a script would be needed - due to simplified ROS software design~ ;)
