Suggestion:

You could try to "forget" that 5GHz SSID in your Redmi Note 8 Pro devce. If it contains the wrong information (e.g. old PSK, encryption mode ...) about this SSID it will try with that information without asking.

I you "forget" the SSID, it will check and ask again.

Similar problem here, but with a Xiaomi Vacuum disconnecting periodically from a hAP ac2, in this case working in the 2.4GHz band.

I changed some settings (Hw retries, disconnect timeout, On fail retry time) about 14 days ago and it has failed again with a similar behaviour.

Momentary disabling the virtual wireless interface the device connects again, but it is not an acceptable solution for a high end wireless router as mikrotik was supposed to be.

Seems like wrong password/secret. FORGET the SSID in your client device and reconnect. Only then it will ask again for the credentials.
Other possibility is about TKIP versus AES. Some (older) devices only can handle TKIP. AES/WPA2 is needed for high speed however.

Hi,
I am experiencing a similar issue. All of a sudden, I can no longer connect my MacBook Pro on the 5 Ghz WiFi. I changed the SSID with no avail. The behaviour is either bad password or it eventually allows me to connect but I have no internet connection.
The logs say more things:
1. Disconnected, received deauth: authentication not valid (2)
2. Disconnected, extensive data loss
Looking at the DHCP server config, it appears that although a static IP outside the DHCP server pool was assigned, for some reason, it keeps on waiting to bind, while I have another instance running, with an IP assigned from the DHCP pool.

Any thoughts on this?

Hi,
Same problem on new smart phone.
Any ideas?

Tried forgetting the connection on phone multiple times and adding device to mikrotik access list. Last step is not necessary because I have set up "default authenticate" in wireless settings.
Phone connects OK to other routers on 5GHz. It is also not a problem with signal strenth, 5GHz is not crowded and phone is about 1 meter from the AP :-)

Debug log:
Dec 25 19:05:47 _gateway wireless,debug wlan2: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx attempts to associate
Dec 25 19:05:47 _gateway wireless,debug wlan2: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx in local ACL, accept

...
Switched to 2.4GHz, phone connects immediately:

Did anyone found a solution for this?
It seems to me there is some compatibility issue with these Xiaome phones and this routerboard.

I've just purchased 2 x Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro smartphones and neither can connect to my 5Ghz Wi-Fi.
I'm have been using HAP AC2 for quite a while now with no issue.
All other devices can connect with no issue to the 5GHz network, except these two devices.

This is not a matter of changed auth method or keys as they are new and existing devices work fine.
2.4GHz network works fine also for these two.
I've tried changing the channel, but I really don't have any idea what else to change, as the settings work fine with other devices.
From log:
wlan2: connected, signal strength -54
wlan2: disconnected, received deauth: class 3 frame received (7)

After some additional digging I seem to have found a working solution, to connect to my 5GHz network.
Unfortunately the Xiaomi devices seems to cause strange situations when it comes to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

My Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro connected to the 5GHz network only after I activated Bluetooth.
I'm really puzzled on how this bug is this even possible, but I guess I'm in a less worse situation compared to other Xiaomi users with other devices.

For anyone reading:
This is most likely not a universal solution:
The solution I found is working for my Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro.
Other users mentioned they have to actually turn off Bluetooth.
It might be their issue is related to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, which seem to have some conflict with Bluetooth, which is in the same frequency range.

Interesting.
My wife also has a chinese phone: Realme 6, this is some Oppo brand.
I will try the bluetooth trick and report back if it works.
It was strange that the phone suddenly started connecting for a day or two and is then disconnecting again.
Connected fine during the day but would disconnect at night, some kind of power saving feature I think.
The phone would wake up at regular intervals in 1 or 2 hours and try to connect but would fail every time.
I noticed that the phone does connect fine to my tp-link AP.
So is this a mikrotik problem or the chinese phone manufacturers?

Thank you.
Unfortunately this issue disappears when I activate bluetooth on the phone. As Xiaomi have a long history of Wi-Fi and bluetooth conflict issues... I can directly suspect Xiaomi's bugs.

@doruneda
Is your phone also based on MTK Helio G90T chipset?
I can confirm that Oppo/Realme 6 connects fine to hap ac2 5GHz only with bluetooth turned on.
Probably some strange bug in phone firmware. MTK is known for closed source and lack of support.
We had 3 xiaomi phones before (all with Qualcomm SOC) and zero problems with wireless.

Did you try connecting to other AP, besides mikrotik?
My wife's phone seems to connect without a problem to tp-link AP.

Hi, I have disabled "aes ccm" on 5GHZ security profile; so now I have only "tkip" and it works fine with my Redmi Note 8 pro.
It's not a best solution,,, but it works.
On 2,4Ghz band AES+TKIP works fine.

Maybe for someone it will save a tons of time for troubleshooting!
I had exact problem as described, no Mikrotik wifi tweaking helped. Some phones was working great, some with minor problems, mine Xiaomi(Note 9 Pro) with more problems( no working Play Store, some apps not connecting to internet) at the same time standard web browsing(Chrome) works!
My network consists of 3 routers, 2 Mikrotik and 1 Huawei(B535-232) all interconnected by Lan cables. Find out that Huawei router in LAN mode (4x LAN ports) was making some noise that disturbed all netowork and WiFis (2xMikrotik SSID + 2x HuaweiSSID). Reconfigured Huawei router to Dynamic mode(one port works as WAN, other 3x LAN). After reconfiguration to Dynamic mode no problems!!!
Now I have two separated LANs/WiFis but it works and fits to me.
