Dear all,

now i use this unit since about 24 month in a small private LAN. 3 PC and some IoT devices and few mobile phones on a cAP ac.
But the uptime from this RB1100AHx4 was never more then 40 days. This was the maximum.
Normally it reboots automatic every 20 - 40 days. Very random and unpredictable

My firewall is a normal setup with ~20 rules just for access restriction, port forwarding aso. Very basic setup.
Since this 24 month i keep the unit always up-to-date on the "stable" versions.
Since about 6 month is use the "long term" versions but here is the same behavior.
The device show never more then 5% of workload and run ~ 45 degress celcius.

What could be wrong? Is it broken? Is this "a normal" situation?
Underchallenged and bored?

I guess a real "power user" or serious user wouldnt accept such device.

I have seen this thread, but there it seems to be the problem that the router is blocking or bricked.
Mine's just rebooting.
But ok, could be the same problem......

I have 3 of them and I've not faced this problem never! Uptime more than 1 year running without any problem with normal 700Mbps to 1G of traffic!

Only error in the log coincident with the reboot is -
"system,error,critical router was rebooted without proper shutdown"

There's been no correlated events close to the reboot like high cpu memory or disk usage.

The question is: are you using an UPS for your rack/router?
Normally, the log "system,error,critical router was rebooted without proper shutdown" is the result of power loss and not an actual error/crash.

Yes one power supply of the router is on a UPS that is also connected to a VM workstation that didn't indicate a power issue. The other power supply of the router is direct to mains AC.

My router is also connected to an UPS.
One PS to the AC line and the second to the UPS.
I got the same log message as user jebz:

Have you contacted support?
Have you generated a supout.rif and forwarded to Mikrotik?

Yes, i was now in contact with Mikrotik Support.
Fast reply and just one hint from them: hardware failure -> Repair or replacement if its under warranty.
Now i´m in contact with the reseller.

How is your discussion with your reseller going?
I'm interested in the nature of the hardware fault that trips so infrequently.
Has your reseller seen a pattern of similar failures with the RB1100AHx4?

It was just an attempt to contact the reseller. Since one week no response from this company.
It seems i have to live with that issue and i´ll kick out that unit on the next good opportunity.

Learned my lesson where to buy and where not

Final update:

The rerseller picked up the router and i got a full refund.
Seems my router had a serious issue.
Anyway ... problem solved but what buy next ?

My RB1100AHx4DE is waiting at the resellers for return to Mikrotik. Mikrotik support responded to my supout and ticket saying it was a hardware issue and to return it for repair.

RB1100AHx4 has returned from Mikrotik after repair. Currently it has an uptime of 10Days and running well on ROS v6.45.9, long term.

I´ll keep the fingers crossed that your issue is solved.
BTW I ended up with a CCR1009. Overkill but nice to have

RB1100AHx4 has returned from Mikrotik after repair. Currently it has an uptime of 10Days and running well on ROS v6.45.9, long term.

Well that didn't last long. 28days and another crash restart. The RB850v1 that was used while the RB1100AHx4 was away didn't falter with an uptime of over 60 days. Before the RB1100AHx4 came along the RB850 had very many months of uptime.

Damn it. These things must have some sort of systematic malfunction
