CRS112-8G - Is there a way to un-brick it?

Mon Sep 06, 2021 4:41 pm

Hi -

Have a CRS112 that has been formatted via the console and is now a brick. Is there any way to bring this unit back to life? It worked prior, but after an upgrade it stopped working, but we could talk to it over the serial console. After many, many, many attempts failing to do a netinstall the tech selected "format storage" from the console CLI thinking that the console would still function and could reinstall the OS somehow. That didn't work out. Wondering if there is a way to bring it back to life, or if this is a target for the recycle bin?

Thanks!

Why call the person who formatted the drive "tech"?
If is really a "tech", the unit is now working again and would have also restored the license...

If the ether1 is broken, dispose of the device according to the laws of your country.

if you somehow have corrupted the bootloader, then the only way I can think of is with an SPI programmer as BusPirate. Then you could write a new bootloader and run net-install again.

Simply use the same cli that have formatted the internal nand to upload new (same) bios inside.
Why search complexity until the ether1 works?
