assigning ip from pool instructed by freeRADIUS server

Wed May 23, 2007 8:55 am

I've got a system where clients wud b authenticating against RADIUS using MAC auth. I plan to hav clients on DHCP, receiving addresses from various pools depending on the username. I've gotten as far as seeing, RADIUS send access-reply messages with framed-pool being sent too. The Mikrotik NAS however, under DHCP, only one server can be created per interface, and each server requires an IP pool to be specified, so how then do we get RADIUS to give off an ip pool to Mikrotik, so tat the lease from the relevant ip pool goes to the right client. Thanksin advance.

This is an old topic so i'll answer it best i can and perhaps it might help others in future

If using FreeRadius, under the group/profile you create you can specify a framed ip pool which the radius server can assign an ip out of,obviously this ip pool would exist on the NAS.

To do this simply create an attribute which would be called "Framed-pool" and the value would be the name of your pool that exists on the NAS
