why

Sun Mar 29, 2020 4:23 am

the thing that really gets me fucked off is that a mikrotik device cant handle being taken from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1

and it just disappears

i know i probably won't do something for a while to access the missing router.but why should it be a missing router?

Using quick set - you are correct changing subnet will delete the existing IP on it that you are likely connected through.

You can get around this with mac-winbox (connect via MAC address not IP) that way IP's changing doesn't matter

Or do it manually, dualstacking both IP's until you have the new one set up and can connect on the new one, then remove the old one. Takes a bit more time but gives you more control.

Again, you don't provide any useful description of what you did, so my answer can only be so helpful.

You cannot make this change just in /ip address and expect the router to work. You must also potentially change /ip firewall nat, /ip dhcp-server, and possibly other places before everything will talk again.

The proper way to make this change is to /export to a file, drag the file to your PC, search it for every occurrence of the old address, and make ALL the indicated changes to your router at one time.
