Reset Button feature not working

Tue Sep 08, 2020 12:33 pm

Hi,

I tried to set up the quite new feature to start an action when pressing the reset button as documented here:
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:R ... et_buttons

Unfortunately I can not get it to work.

When setting by it up by console (or winbox), it takes the configuration without complaint, but afterwards with an export it shows nothing, and of course the button does not work as expected.
/system routerboard reset-button set enabled=yes hold-time=0..10 on-event=":log info message=button"
/system routerboard export
# sep/08/2020 11:23:38 by RouterOS 6.47.3
# software id = xxxxxxx
#
# model = CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+
# serial number = 91530984xxxx
/system routerboard settings
set reformat-hold-button=1m
I tried this on both a CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+ and on a hAP ac

Some data on the systems.

hAP ac
/system routerboard print

Short update.

I tried on a quite new RB4011. It works on that device.

Device data
/system routerboard print
       routerboard: yes

     firmware-type: al2
  factory-firmware: 6.45.9
  current-firmware: 6.47.3
  upgrade-firmware: 6.47.3

/system package print terse

Not all devices support this... Try the following code to check:
:if ([ :len [ /system routerboard mode-button print as-value ] ] > 0) do={ :put "Mode button supported."; }
:if ([ :len [ /system routerboard reset-button print as-value ] ] > 0) do={ :put "Reset button supported."; }

This is interesting. Thank you for your reply.

The documentation ( https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:R ... et_buttons ) clearly states that the reset button is supported on all devices (first sentence in the paragraph).

Can someone from MikroTik clarify this issue?

Best regards

It is not. But would be nice...
Missing this on some devices, including CCR1009 & mAP (lite). Would have to check all my devices for a complete list.

I have the reset button settings available the webfig under System - routerboard - reset button. When I change the settings, the log says "Mode Button configuration changed by admin", but the button doesn't work.

Why does it say "mode-button", not reset button? The wiki also uses the same command for both buttons, which is probably an error too.

My firmware is 6.47.2 and my model is RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT. I just upgraded everything to 6.47.7, same result.

It sucks that there are these settings in the webfig but they do nothing... I spent some time making a solution around this functionality.

Hello...
I also have the settings in Winbox (System\Routerboard) on my hAP ac. When I change these settings and close/reconnect winbox, all settings are cleared to default. So not working here too. I'm on 6.48.3

Can anyone confirm that this feature is not working on mentioned hardware, or do I have to setup something else first?
Is there another way to make use of that button?

Kind regards,
Gandlz

Use my commands from above to confirm whether or not your device supports mode and/or reset button.

Other than that... Open a support ticket and complain.

The support confirmed an issue in Router OS and they will fix it in upcoming versions.

Ah, good news! 😁
Let's hope we can use it on all devices then.
