Hi All,

New to Mikrotik. I've recently acquired an old Mikrotik and wanted to update the RouterOS. I've tried to update in the following ways but it waits to update;

1. Auto update. File downloads to "files". But after a reboot from System > Reboot the device remains on 6.38.5
2. Auto update and install. This option creates a loop where the unit conitunes to try to download and install the udpate.
3. Downlaod the file from support page and mnaully update by coping to "files. Same result as option1.
4. Downlaod version 6.38.7 and 6.39.3 and copy to "files" and reboot. Same issue where after reboot device is still on old OS.

Has anyone else had this issue? Any advice on what to try next?

Usually when update fails, there's something in logs about it.

You may also want to check list of installed packages ... to verify there aren't any duplicates. There were times when one or another package would be installed twice and that would block upgrade.

BTW, there were some bigger changes between 6.38 and 6.47 ... so automatic config migration might fail at some details. It is highly advisable to create ASCII export of whole config (run /export file=somename and fetch resulting file off router) for future reference in case you'd decide to start config from (new) defaults.
