dhcp1 offering lease xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx without success

Thu Jan 21, 2021 9:51 am

Hi,

I recently added an RB260GSP to power my 3 wAP ac in the house. Main router is an RB3011 and to save one power cord in my small computer rack in the wardrobe i plugged that in too and connected to ether1 on the 3011 to be able to supply power with PoE. Now i get this message beacuse the dhcp server on the 3011 wanna give an IP address to it. Is this beacuse i have the dhcp server on the bridge on the 3011 and ether1 is a part of the bridge? WIll message go away if I remove ether1 from the bridge? Dont want to remove the port and the router may become unaccessable :)

All i want is to power supply the 3011 from the RB260GSP.

Where is the DHCP client on the RB3011 connected to?
Can you please share the config of the RB3011: /export hide-sensitive file=anynameyoulike

Hi (i'm new here :) ),

Let's resume what you want to do.

You have 1 RB3011 as "main" router for your home network.
You have 1 RB260GSP plugged on the RB3011-ether1 to get power from it.
You have 3 wAP plugged on the RB260GSP.

Then you get the message "dhcp1 offering lease xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx without success" on the RB3011 when you plug the RB260GSP on RB3011-ether1.

For me, yes, you have this message because you probably have DHCP enabled on a bridge where RB3011-ether1 is a part of it.
But something is wrong on the configuration of one of your devices.

My questions are :
- do you have only 1 network - 1 subnet - 1 bridge ? or multiple subnets (and multiple bridge e.g.) ?
- do you already set up an static IP address on the RB260GSP to get access to this router from your network ? Or the RB260GSP was supposed to be configured with a dhcp-client to obtain an IP from the RB3011 ?
