MIkrotik can replace Pfsense Proxy ? Http and https ? Transparent proxy ?

Fri Mar 05, 2021 4:47 pm

Hello.

I use Pfsense and OPNsense
and I'm new to Mikrotik (no device yet)
I read a lot about Mikrotik product specifications, but I have some doubts.

My topology:
Business Address 1:
Windows Server - installed and working
Pfsense Fw and Proxy - installed and working

Business Address 2:
I need to access the data in Windows Server,
and a control in internet
Options:
Pfsense in the Business Address 2
OR
Mikrotik in the Address 2

I need a device to a new business address to:
-Link Failover - 2 WAN's , 40 computers in the network
-LAN Gigabit and WAN ports Gigabit
-Proxy Server https , http, transparent proxy , ACL rules to sites - I have a lot of rules
-VPN to access the other address of the comnpany (will use VPN plus terminal Services)

Pfsense and OPNSense can do what I need, but I need to know if using Mikrotik I can get more features / benefits.

Must I use a Mikrotik device OR a Mikrotik as a firewall and Pfsense / OpNSense as a Proxy server ?

Which Mikrotik model has all the features I described above ?
I don't understand about Mikrotik software licences.
To use the features I described,do I need to buy some Mikrotik licences ? which one ? How many ? 1 licence for the router or one licence for each device in the network ?
I heard about Mikrotik router and Mikrotik controller - do I need 1 (router) or 2 (router + controller) devices in each pyhsical address ?

In one address (where Windows Server is) I already have PFsense
It's a good idea to have Mikrotik acessing the Pfsense/Windows Server ?

Thank you very much !
