Fri Mar 05, 2021 11:24 pm

Hi all,

I'm running 6.48.1 on an RB2011.

Where can I see my gateway, DNS, etc ? I'm just starting setup and while I can ping ipv6.google.com by IP, I can't seemy address:

These two should get you what you need. Most of what you're looking for will be in the ipv6 menu
ip dns print
and
ipv6 address print

/ipv6 address print is only showing my link-local, not the slaac aquired address. the /ipvt route print also isn't showing me a default route, but I can ping ipv6.google.com. Very odd. Not sure if this is a bug or I'm looking in the wrong place.

That's definitely not normal, when I issue the same command on my home or office router which are both dual stack, I get the global unicast addresses and the default route.

I would recommend downgrading to the LTS version 6.47.9 and see if the issue persists.

Are you using slaac, dhcpv6, or statics for ipv6? I will try the downgrade & see how that goes.

Thank you!

Downgrade did not fix this, unfortunately.

When the Mikrotik itself acquires its own global IPv6 address using SLAAC, it does not show it. A default IPv6 route may not show as dst-address=::/0, it may show as dst-address=2000::/3 and the gateway may be a link-local address. Or maybe it doesn't show at all in SLAAC case, can't check right now.

There is a trick to learn the own global address in that case.

Ok, is this a known defect? Anyone know if Microtik has plans to fix this?

It's not broken according to Mikrotik. In an ideal IPv6 world, routers do not acquire their global addresses using SLAAC. So the ability of RouterOS to do so is kind of a bonus functionality.

Another post confirms that in this situation, the default route is not shown either.
