ERROR: no routeros.jg found

Tue Mar 16, 2021 2:32 am

Winbox running on a specific Win10 computer gives this error when attempting to login to 2 different routers: ERROR: no routeros.jg found

The first router is running 6.47.8 and the second - 6.47.9. We tried both versions of the latest winbox - 32 and 64 bits.

Both routers are accessible from other computers running winbox. So it is definitely something with the specific computer.

The history of this PC is that it was infected with a malware. Those type of malware that attempt to login via ftp or telnet to Mikrotik routers. After cleaning the virus we decided to reinstall the PC (just in case) but in the last moment someone used it for testing and he saw that he cannot use winbox because of that error when attempting to login.

I have cleared cache (Tools -> Clear cache) and there is no Mikrotik folder in any of the AppData subfolders.

The computer is about to be reinstalled, but just from curiosity - do you know any other solution for this problem?

Winbox reads
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
and expects the contents to be there if it is not or if it is not what it expects it to be it cannot really function.
