PPPoE Server, Local Address, Nexthop IP

Sun Mar 21, 2021 10:47 am

Hello.

I am a small wisp, and i give public IPs to my customers over PPPoE.
I have a link net to my isp. Lets call it 1.1.1.0/30 with 1.1.1.2 as my router, my ISP route one of my /24 net to my router 1.1.1.2. Lets call it 2.2.2.0/24.
I wonder what i should set as Local Address in the PPP profile. The Remote Address is a pool of public IPs 2.2.2.129-2.2.2.254

Should i:
1: Set my router 1.1.1.2 as a Local Address?
2: Just choose an unused ip from the /24 as a Local Address like 2.2.2.1 or 2.2.2.254, maby even 2.2.2.255 or 2.2.2.128 since this is not a subnet.

What do you guys think? What is best practice?
