CRS328 Temperature high

Sat Apr 10, 2021 10:42 am

Hi Folks
I have a Mikrotik CRS328-24P-4S+RM. The system health readout is as follows:
         temperature: 71C
     cpu-temperature: 62C
   power-consumption: 1.5W
  board-temperature1: 32C
        psu1-voltage: 26.3V
        psu2-voltage: 52.5V
        psu1-current: 0A
        psu2-current: 0A
          fan1-speed: 1335RPM
          fan2-speed: 1305RPM
My CPU temp and temperature is showing very high. Which part of the unit does temperature (first line) refer to. Any ideas on how to bring the temp down. The device is kept in an open area with ambient temp of about 32C

Does it have fans?
If not purchase some to blow air in and suck air out........

Looks about right to me. This is a CRS328 on an ambient temp about 25C. Do You have some 10Gb ethernet modules plugged in? They are really hot.
         temperature: 50C
     cpu-temperature: 57C
   power-consumption: 31W
  board-temperature1: 38C
        psu1-voltage: 26.5V
        psu2-voltage: 53V
        psu1-current: 1.1A
        psu2-current: 0A
          fan1-speed: 1230RPM
          fan2-speed: 1275RPM

CRS328-24P does have fans and OP contains data about their RPM. However fans are temperature driven and it seems MT thinks these temperatures are fine or else fans would run much faster (I seem to remember they can go as high as 5000 RPM or something like that).

Makes sense!
From specs: Tested Ambient Temp ---> -20°C to 60°C

Thanks folks for your responses. I guess i will have to add two more fans if i want it any cooler. Understand there is a provision for the same on the CRS328.

Anyone knows what temperature is being referred to in the first line as it just says temperature, which part of the device is getting so hot. The other two temperatures are well defined as CPU temp and Board Temp.

I have all 4 SFP+ ports populated. 3 of them are DAC cables and one is a RJ45 adapter.

I finally figured out why my device was showing such a high temperature. This is because of the RJ45 Copper SFP+ converter that i use in one of the SFP+ ports. As long as that device is off the temperature is reasonable around 55-60C. the minute that device comes on, the "Board Temperature 2" starts rising and gradually reaches and stays at around 70C. "Board Temperature 1" continues at 30-40C range.

I guess there is no way to reduce this temp.

Ok I know this is really old, but i have an update on this. This problem of high temperature went away when I had upgraded the packages to the next RouterOS version (6.47.1) This was end July. This was smooth for a few months and now i again upgraded to the newest version of the RouterOS (6.48.5) and the problem is back. The temperature for board 2 is showing around 70C. Is this a RouterOS issue or is the reporting incorrect. Please find attached the temperature graph measured over the last 6 months. Did something change in the latest version of RouterOS ?
