CRS354-48P-4S+2Q+ Slow 10G SFP+

Sun May 16, 2021 3:42 pm

Hello guys,

I'm having a bit of an issue,

I have a gaming lounge and I use LAN boot for my Gaming PCs so speed is very important and for my current setup I have the:
PXE server on a 10G SFP+ port on CRS305-1G-4S+IN
3x RB4011iGS+RM on the other 10G SFP+ port on CRS305-1G-4S+IN
all Gaming PCs are connected to the 3x RB4011iGS+RM
everything works perfectly and I can take advantage of the 10G speed most of the times since its very rarely when more than 10 Gaming PCs request data at the same time.

no special setup on the RB4011iGS+RM, I just reset with no default settings and bridge all ports, the same goes for CRS305-1G-4S+IN.

but now I got a new CRS354-48P-4S+2Q+RM, to replace the 3x RB4011iGS+RM and the CRS305-1G-4S+IN, and I did the same, reset with no default settings and bridge all ports, connected the PXE server to the 10G SFP+ port and the gaming PCs to the 1G ports, but the speed is very slow.

am I doing anything wrong ?
is there a special setup i need to do to be able to get the full 10G from SFP+ to all the 1G ports ?

What version of RouterOS is running on the CRS?
MikroTik has made some improvements to switching performance in v6.49beta:
*) crs3xx - improved 1Gbps Ethernet port group traffic forwarding for CRS354 devices;
*) crs3xx - improved switch resource allocation for CRS317, CRS309, CRS312, CRS326-24S+2Q+ and CRS354 devices;
I'd be interesting to see if this makes a difference in your scenario.

after more testing, it appears that Gaming PCs are able to send and receive 90% of the 1G link each but the weird thing is that there is some kind of delay ! no idea how to describe it.

Basically when PCs are booting over the LAN they cant go faster than 15MB over the link,
but when doing a speed test simultaneously on all PCs with speed test server being the same as PXE server i can reach 90% of the link speed.

while on the old setup it works normally

MikroTik has made some improvements to switching performance in v6.49beta:
currently tested both long term and stable, will try the beta version now

update: beta never worked since dhcp didnt work even with reset and default config

MikroTik does not respond to issues described in the forums. You should contact support@mikrotik.com instead. Let them know the issues you're having with DHCP and RouterOS v6.49beta as well.
