How to use dyndns and ip cloud in the correct way - settings

Mon May 31, 2021 2:58 pm

Hello everyone,

We have MikroTik modems with 4G/LTE access in usage.
Therefore a sound recorder is linked via Ethernet to the 4G modem.

Our customer is using DynDNS Service since the SIM cards have a changing IP address.
I had a look at several topics about it but couldn`t find the right answer.

Router OS: 6.48.3.

If the user wants still to use his dyndns address - how can this be configured inside the router?
I added a screenshot of the normal setup for the datacollector to get the sound files.

Otherwise my question would be if instead of the dyndns address
also the DNS Name of the Mikrotik modem xxxxxx.sn.mynetname.net could be used
when the port forwarding inside the modem is the correct one to the sound recorder.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Attached some information the sound recorder has the following information:
  • IP LAN 192.168.88.42 and MAC LAN 70-02-58-00-09-48 and uses Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
  • The integrated Serves has an Http Listen Port on 80 and an FPT Listen Port on 21
Afterwards I went to inferfaces and added an LTE APN

I filled in all the details of the provider:

Afterwards I have Telekom1 in the APN list

In the DHCP server list I added new leases to link the Ethernet address to the MAC address

After this I added dst. ports for 1050 and 1060:

Setup for Port 1060 to 21

IP Cloud is showing a public address and a DNS name xxxxxxx.sn.mynetname.net
What I would want now is to connect to the device which is linked through Ethernet to the sound recorder
Instead of using a DynDNS now I would like to use the xxxxxx.sn.mynetname.net link

Unfortunately I miss something in the configuration.

Maybe somebody here see which settings are missing or what could be a problem.

To describe the issue further:

On another PC which is online connected with the internet tries to get the data
via FTP protocol from the sound recorder.

The tool tries to reach the sound recorder through the IP Cloud name
and receives also the IP address of the SIM card within the modem.

Unfortunately error 12029 occures that the server connection couldn`t be estabilshed.

I am also thinking about if some of the ports like 1050 and 1060 are disabled by the provider.

Attached the solution for this issue.
I mixed up 21 and 80 in the FTP tool to get the data.
Instead you have to use for sure the 1060 and 1050.

Now all is working fine.
