Traffic Flow and NAT

Sun Jun 13, 2021 7:04 am

I was hoping to use NetFlow (i.e., Traffic Flow) to monitor bandwidth usage at the IP/client level and have things mostly working with SolarWinds' Realtime Netflow Analyzer. However, when looking at the conversation info for my WAN interface, everything shows as coming into my public IP. This is presumably due to the fact that all internet traffic uses srcnat. Is there a way to show the internal destination instead of the public IP, or is that another field that's already part of ROS' flow data that the visualization app needs to be able to expose?

Figured it out. It's in the flow data, but the SolarWinds tool wasn't exposing or using it. In case anyone else runs across this, I got nProbe/ntopng running, and I can see the internal addresses. Just gotta figure out whether or not I can get ntopng or nProbe to do a reverse DNS, but that's another matter.
