Router config

Thu Aug 05, 2021 10:04 am

Good day everyone.

I have a mikrotik RB760iGS router and want to connect it at the back of the LTE router the company is using so that the mikrotik is the "management router". I have not done the configuration in a long time and I am not sure where to start. Can I please ask some assistance on how the configuration should be on the mikrotik.

Yours faithfully

Thank you for the response Karlisi. I was thinking of using the default config of the mikrotik, but the LTE router got a IP subnet of 10.0.x.x. If I am not mistaken, I just have to connect the mikrotik to the LTE and the mikrotik will automatically pickup the settings from the LTE and use it's default IP subnet 192.168.8.x (mikrotik's) to distribute internet access to the workstations?

Yes, it should work as you described.

Thank you. I assume the AP's will also then work by default as they are using there default configuration.

Good day karlisi. I have connected the LTE router to port 1 of the mikrotik and the rest of the network to port 2. I do have internet connection but can not browse at all. The LTE subnet is 10.0.x.x/24 and mikrotik 192.168.x.x/24. Attached is the configuration on the mikrotik if it will help.

What is the output of
/ip address print
You should see an IP one Ether1 some like this:
1 D 10.0.5.5/24 10.0.0.5.1 ether1
If you do not have IP then try to swap mikrotik with a PC connecting to LTE router, It should get a 10.0.x.x IP

Thank you for the response. The mikrotik is getting the correct IP from the LTE router. If I connect only my laptop to the MK, I can browse no problem, but the problem comes in when I connect the cable for the rest of the network to any open port on the MK I can not browse at all, but still have an internet connection.

All the other mikrotik devices i.e. the AP's and switches is also on their default configuration. I can only assume that there must be an IP conflict somewhere.

Yours faithfully
