Tricky but interesting Q-in-Q (802.1ad) over EoIP issue

Wed Aug 11, 2021 1:09 am

Hi everyone, we provide layer 2 circuits over EoIP for a client who is a carrier (aggregator) for other customer. We have two RB 2011 at customer sites A and B, and we have an EoIP tunnel between the two RBs. Each site has the both EoIP tunnel and customer facing interface in a bridge and this works fine.

Client has come with a new request that we have been unable to solve.

Client wants to be able to carry multiple VLANs from their customers over the circuit we provide them. Client intends to encapsulate multiple customer vlans (C-vlans) within a Service Vlan (S-VLAN), and pass this S-VLAN to us on an interface. The client then expects us to pop of the outer S-Tag before delivering the C-vlans to the customer end.

Eg. client's customer has vlans 3.4 and 5. The client will then place outer tag (vlan 10) and interface with us on vlan 10. We are to pass Vlan 10 ( across our network)up till the client's customer handoff point where we strip off vlan 10 and present the c-vlans to the customer. The problem with this is that we will not be made aware the C-vlans and this will be transparent to us.

We have tried a 100 ways to get this done with the existing setup, to no avail! PLEASE HELP
