Discovering devices in different VLANs with SSDP and WS-Discovery

Sun Aug 22, 2021 7:55 pm

Hello, I hav two vlans, uno 192.168.10.0/24 for my computers and 192.168.30.0/24 for my iot devics, such as IP cameras and so on.

I want to be able to discover those devices by using SSDP, UPNP and WS Discovery, thus I have to implement multicast routing between the VLANs.

But here my doubts start:
  • for WS-Discovery, the cient sends a probe and the devices answer with ProbeMatch. Is igmp proxy good for this? Should I put the interface in the 192.168.10.0/24 ad upstream, or the other one? I have traffic in both directions...
  • do I need to enable IGMP snooping?
  • do I need to add firewall rules to formward multicast between the VLANs or is igmp proxy enough?

I found the page about igmp proxy not clear enough.

Can you help me please?
