Thread/Matter Support

Fri Sep 17, 2021 11:38 pm

Hi,
I wonder, as there are innovative IoT devices such as KNOT, is there any chance that in the future there will be Mikrotik products like cap ac or hap ac2 as they are, but with Thread/Matter support in addition? (e.g. forward to MQTT)

I have installed CAPSMAN in so many households as this is such a cool solution for good coverage in the entire home. Now existing ZigBee is always only at one bridge, so only one position, which is of course not the best coverage. Of course many ZigBee devices can forward messages, but im dreaming of a future, where i know, whenever there is wifi coverage due to CAPSMAN, there will be thread/matter coverage as well.

thanks in advance !

best regards

We do have a plan to make a Thread border router, but no more information can be released yet.

Hey, any updates for matter and thread support? I would think any 2.4 Ghz chipset could possibly support thread fabric.

Thread is based on the proven 802.15.4 radio technology that allows for extremely efficient, low-power, self-healing mesh networks.

Unless you are customer with large orders 3 figures.......... nothing you desire will get accelerated,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Believe me logic does not prevail, its all about profit per effort like any business.
Low hanging fruit, ( by that I mean easy to implement and test) is easy and can happen more readily, more complex stuff has a more rigorous process, including projected sales...........
Large customers can queue in their requirements with sales #s, and state I need this capability by 3rd quarter 2023..............................

Well when you see mDNS/SD-DNS and NAT64/DNS64 support, you'll know OpenThread is close...
