Loss of connection continuously with LtAP LTE6 kit

Thu Sep 23, 2021 10:58 am

Hi, I have a problem with LTE6 kit, when I turn on the 4G I have a connection and it works perfectly, but after "X" time, I start to lose connection and I have no Internet connection, I have tried with different sim cards, but the problem continues, I hope you can help me, thank you very much.

This is my configuration:

Hello sindy.
[admin@MikroTik] > /interface lte firmware-upgrade 0 upgrade=no
  installed: R11e-LTE6_V025
     latest: R11e-LTE6_V028
What should I do?
Thanks.
I have updated one of the 5 LTe6 that I have, to see if the problem is solved, thank you very much

Make sure that you don't lose power for some time (a UPS or just a set of batteries should be sufficient), and repeat the same command with upgrade=yes, praying intensively and sincerely :)

I had the very same issue with the same device. I worked with MikroTik and no issues could be identified. I finally left only one band enabled B1 and I’ve had no further issues ever. Updated to latest v28 firmware and tried to use multiple bands but had the same issue. So back to one band and all is well.

How did you select the band to use? In my case, I watched which band was always picked up as the primary in the aggregate and then used it. In my case this was B1. Your case may be different.

Please activate logs like here How to correctly diagnose & collect LTE logs for support and share logs from problem time.

SiB I've been through all those steps with Mikrotik support and they weren't able to identify anything. I even had my device sending them logs in certain intervals during the day and gave them access to the device to check logs etc. I enabled all the logging and was monitoring the log output. After about 30 minutes, the internet connection died. The LtAP indicated that it was still connected. No disruption to the session at all and no log event when the internet stopped working. I just had no DNS resolution at all. I have my device set to override the ISP DNS and use Google's. I've decided to go back to using the ISP DNS and see if that fixes the problem. It's about the only thing I HAVEN'T done at this point.

calist - are you using ISP DNS or other?

You can login to support portal and share your case with me ? or share a logs you get from time of disconnection.. ?
About R11e-LTE6 i know about problems
*) 2CA not speed up a internet
*) CellLock who go offline can not back to online or go to 3G, know as Freez.
*) one person have problem with a uploud >20Mbps who create a disconnection - maybe ISP, maybe module..

After about 30 minutes, the internet connection died. The LtAP indicated that it was still connected. No disruption to the session at all and no log event when the internet stopped working. I just had no DNS resolution at all.
DNS can be check by one command, you can type your DNS provider in parameter and still use google for all users.
put [:resolve mikrotik.com server=1.1.1.1 ]

Some ISP have that strange behavior like
*) after some time they add QoS to slow down...
*) not pay bill then block internet, but then a ISP DNS can still work and resolve only ISP hostname's to ISP WebPanel portal
etc.

This is strange to not found a source of offline by MikroTik itself, seams like your ISP do someting too.

1. as you say you have tried different SIMs, were these from the same operator or from different operators?
2. as @gabacho4 suggests, it may actually not be an LTE issue but some weird behaviour of the ISP. So when "internet doesn't work", what does /interface lte info 0 show? And when it is in that state, do also the following:
/ip dns set servers="" (to use the DNS servers indicated by the ISP)
:put [resolve finetwork.es]
What is the output of the last command?

I think I have been misunderstood. I don't believe the issue is with the ISP. I have previously used an ASUS 4G router for months without any issues whatsoever and it was locked on to the same two channels (B1 and B20). I don't recall if I had it pointed at the ISP DNS or not but at this point, that is irrelevant. Despite having my LtAP LTE6 set to use my ISP DNS, I had another outage while using the aggregation mode. (B1 and B20). Running the commands suggested yields the following:
/interface lte info 0

I already had my DNS set to use the ISP but I double checked just to be sure:
/ip dns print

                cache-max-ttl: 1w
                   cache-used: 30KiB

lastly running :put [resolve google.com or 8.8.8.8] resulted in the following.
[ngoehring@MikroTik] > :put [resolve 8.8.8.8]
failure: dns server failure
[ngoehring@MikroTik] > :put [resolve google.com]
failure: dns server failure

after resetting the modem by setting the LTE to only use B1, things began to work again.

So here are my thoughts and, frankly, complaints:

1. ASUS router NEVER exhibited these behaviors despite connecting to the same channels. It was located in the same location as the LtAP.
2. Telling the LtAP to use ISP DNS makes no difference over using Google or some other provide DNS.
3. I NEVER have an issue with the LtAP if I have it set to connect to only one channel (B1). I had been running for months with no issues since I made that setting adjustment. After seeing this thread and thinking that perhaps V28 firmware would correct things, I decided to try to revert to the CA configuration. FAIL. This is very clearly a Mikrotik issue given bullets 1 and 3.

Good afternoon, responding to sindy, we have tried sims from many operators and the problem is not solved, including ours, since we are an ISP, right now I cannot perform the command because the equipment we have in test is in another city and I couldn't test it until Monday when I'm in the office, actually the DNS doesn't matter, because we've tested both the public and the private ones, on Monday when I go to the office or when the 4G VPN that I'm testing is up again , I will show the output of the command, thanks.
Sorry for my English but I need help from google translator

Cases where lte1 was Running but not give internet NSLookup OK, No Internet? , registered but ping = timeout
in general was solve by:

* correct APN or disable in ros7 use-network-apn=no
* change sim card with isp plan for proper offer, often ISP select what vendor can connect.
* change IMEI of device to that who works before (howto: reddit or 4pda)
* pay a bill
* upgrade firmware or directly help from MikroTik support team.

I'm familiar with the pain of Mikrotik LTE. Ive written up a post explaining everything Ive discovered so far on this, and Ive made a dish available to support to work on to hopefully make it the great product it could be...
