Thu Aug 30, 2007 2:00 pm

Is the Dev team working on MPLS?

It was the top request on the Wiki Survey ....

We currently provide "last mile" or transport services to 3 providers along with our regular Internet Customers and Layer 2 Private Vlan Customers. We use mikrotik routers and tend to bridge vlans trough routed interfaces to provide true L2.

We need QinQ, L2VPN or VPLS along with the ability to provide QOS based on MPLS .

if you need more input, let me know

Hi Normis,

We need a good Mikrotik solution for transporting customer vlans across our network. QinQ, layer 2 vpn, or even L2TPv3 would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

With respect, EoIP and MPLS are in different centuries. We use a ton of EoIP now and desperately want to get MPLS to buld a managed/manageable solution.

Once you get over a few hundred routers the lack of MPLS starts to become a bigger issue. Just like OSPF working well on a large scale.

I realize eoip doesn't scale very well and isn't a 'good' solution, but it is a working solution that is available today.. I had also asked about MPLS while I was in Orlando and I was told to use eoip..

Hey, I could get by with Q in Q to start... MPLS later... that would be great!

ANy way to provide QOS in a QinQ scenario?

At Orlando, one of the Mikrotik guys told me they are working on QinQ. I'm guessing they will have to get their routers to pass jumbo frames to make this work.

QinQ is already supported in v3.0. Just add vlan interface on top of other vlan interface. Note: make sure that your ethernet interfaces support frame size with additional tag.
