if you are registered user then everything is very simple:

1) navigate thorugh wiki to the point where you want to add your topic, for example Main Page -> MikroTik_RouterOS -> Scripts

so you want to add scripting example

2) push edit and add new topic as previous topics are added and save the changes

when this is done

3) view the page you just saved and you will see that you have added new topic that have no contents, if you click on that link automatically it will go to edit mode

4) write an article, for reference you can use any other topic (the layout, style)

when you are done

5) save the article and check how it looks like, edit any cosmetic, grammatic errors and you are done,

you have created readable, easy to comprehend article for everyone to read, just follow some good example on how to order things in your topic.

Sergio - be careful with those rules. You are not specifying an interface or any other specifiers, therefore this might block legitimate traffic as well. If those ports are used in return traffic from another network it's possible they could get blocked as well. Just a thought.

manual request

I need scenario for this situation.I have real ip adresses. No nat. 3 bandwitch profiles -
1. local traffic: download 12m/ Upload 6m overseas 256/128kbit.
2. local traffic: download 6m/ Upload 3m overseas 128/64kbit.
3. local traffic: download 4m/ Upload 2m overseas 64/32kbit.
I have some ideas, correct me plz. I have to create address lists for each bandwitch profile, divide local and overseas traffic with mangle, after that create queue type=pcq and create queue 4 trees( 2 for local/overseas download and 2 for l/o upload) with queue typr=pcq. for upload parent must be global-out, for download global in.

Do Scripts count, with a good description on how to adapt/use them?

I've got two scripts that I want to publish:

One that does automatic invoicing E-mails for all users in a User-Manager based system,

and one that checks whether or not it's the last day of the month, that compensates for whether or not the month has 30 or 31 days, and also compensates for Leapyears for Feb.

Haven't finished integrating the two yet, but that's the idea.

yes, no problem. there are already articles in spanish there. just indicate that it's in spanish, and make a new section with all the spanish articles in there.

3. you use wds-default bridge already in the beginning, but only show how to make it in step 7
4. you should make the example with private IPs so that you don't have to hide them. Mac address also should be at least partially visible, to make the example udnerstandable.

Sorry i am not a guru in scripting but from my basic knowledge, the script only put into consideration, users that are charged per data. What of those charged per time? And if one utilizes both charging plan? What can i do to the script to accomodate that?

Just finished the translation of the Dude language file to dutch. This file is downloadable in the Dude section on the wiki pages. This file can also be used by the Begium dudes as our languages are very similar.

Admin, please let me know if this is enough for a L4 license.

if you purchase RouterOS that is already installed on a hardware - license is already included there. Purchase of license is needed if you wish to install RouterOS by yourself, on some PC

all routerboards come with software license that allows you to use that software with some limitations (depends on license level).

but when you buy some gear you have to comply with rules in your country, so, if your country allows you use 5ghz as a free spectrum you are allowed to do it and allowed to use your 5ghz gear in that country, in some countries that is not allowed, in some countries only certain modes are allowed only certain middle frequencies are allowed etc. so you have to check what is allowed in your country and comply with these rules or else you will be breaking the law in your country or in country where you set up this 5ghz gear.

Well, here's something for the newsletter...

During the week of March 2nd, we did a series of 'Netcasts' from a research vessel in Monterey Bay California. The entire production was handled using IP based services carried over MikroTik equipment.

Onboard the R/V Fulmar the production team employed Tandberg MPEG2 video encoders, Telex RTS intercoms, and various laptops to communicate to the program direction center at the University of Rhode Island "InnerSpaceCenter"

We used RB411 / XR2 units running ROS3.3 to bridge an Internet2 POP onshore in Monterey to the
R/V Fulmar.

Personally, I think that people should get free licenses in exchange for every support ticket they open with MikroTik which is confirmed as a bug instead of user error.

It would encourage bug-squashing, both by MikroTik and their customers.

I'm up to at least 5 confirmed bugs for the month of April alone, and I've got the ticket numbers to prove it...

I understand you write to support 'FOR' your free license, but do we 'APPLY' for it by posting here? Sorry if you have already stated this, but it isn't clear.

Either way ~ What about this one (for a free L6? (The cheek, eh!) - The reason I ask for a L6, is ALL my other (live) kit is RB, and want to play with L6 on an X86 before deciding *IF* it offers us any 'real' benefits over using exclusively RB's)

As said, any reasonably useful article will receive a license.

To get a free license for bug finding:

- only on current version bugs
- the bug should be serious (not trivial such as mispellings)
- you must assist support with supout files and possibly let them connect to your router

Once an actual bug is confirmed, you will get a L3 or L4 license.

I have a x386 system on a ASUS A7V400-MX Mainboard, Athlon XP1800+ Processor and 512Mb Ram.
ROS 3.11 installed in a CF Card, everyrthing works fine but when you do a System -> Resources, it only shows 128MB of Ram installed. BIOS shows 512MB.
I have WEBPROXY cache drive running on a secondary Master.

I think this could be a BUG!

I have created a new article and had to fix a wiki bug myself

Tip for anyone else: There are some cases where the wiki doesn't seem to like it when I put (( something something ))

err.. so you haven't had to spend days up towers trying to resolve issues that turned out to be a firmware bug then? while your customers are offline.

At the end of those days you find the bug and send the email and it gets fixed..

translating the dude sounds a much easier task suddenly.

Try not to underestimate the impact on your customer base when a bug gets out into released code that affects your customers' customer base..

you are welcome to choose the task that is easier for you. it is a free gift after all. latvians have a saying - you can't count the teeth of a free (gift) horse.

I've reported a bug to MT but haven't got a response regarding it (been 2 weeks now)

The netflow (or Traffic Flow as it's called in MT) has a problem with automatically adding dynamic interfaces to the netflow output list.

Eg: I tell it I only want it to export traffic from my INET interface, yet I go to the monitoring system and each time a pppoe connection is made to that router, the mikrotik sends details for those interfaces also. (Generating a large amount of useless interfaces)

this is not a lottery, or a license giveaway. you can EARN (topic title) licenses for creating something very useful. not a lot of people can do that. this requires a lot of knowledge.

DNS problem with 3.14rc1 and 3.14.

It does not disable the use of dns in the traceroute command

it's not specified anywhere how many licenses you will get for what video. licenses are awarded based on video quality, style and length, also with the new tiktube version - based on other viewer response, like comments and rating.
