HOTSPOT managment(Feature request)

Sat Jun 19, 2004 12:56 am

It will be very good if You will be able to do some manegment for end user client (ex. employee of hotel) for hotspot users. I think about some monitoring hot spot user (for ex. via web page - how many people are on the hotspot, print out ticket for hotspot users. With out that feature hotspot in mt router is not so good...

Hmmm
I'm not at the same point-of-view.

RouterOS's Hotspot is quiet sexy.
But it's not intended for "kiosk class" operation.
It's designed just like what dial-in server do.
The Accounting and Billing System is left to the AAA server (RADIUS).

With this mechanism, you can Join with Global roaming internet user such-as IPass and GRIC, or just build your own billing system based on RADIUS.

"Kiosk-class" mechanism is not bad at all.
It just "another feature".

The "midle-way" of this request is to build a so called "micro-billing-system"

Yes, but with some "micro - billing system", MT building hotspot will be very easy.
I don't want to join IPASS or something else. Is it any free linux billing software for radius, or I should create it on my own?
I look for some solution.

FreeRadius + FreeSide will be great.
But still it's ISP class
You'll have to modified ... script ... etc etc for it act as kiosk-class
