3.0rc8 release

Wed Oct 24, 2007 5:39 am

What's new in 3.0rc8:

*) fixed problem - console did not accept ip address ranges correctly;
*) user manager - fixed problem with accounting creating too many sessions;
*) console:
added ip-prefix and ip6-prefix datatypes, written in address/mask
notation;
INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: expressions of the form "(123/45)" (where first
operand is literal unquoted value) currently will be parsed as single
string, to write division put space before '/' (like with '.' operator);
added operator 'in' that checks if first argument is inside second
argument, currenty implemented for the case where second argument is
ip-prefix or ip6-prefix and first argument is either address or
another prefix;
don't perform full reset of terminal on login;
fixed terminal capability detection, now windows telnet client
works better. TERM environment variable is ignored completely now,
it was overriding detected values before;
*) added support for Huawei E220 USB modem;
I finally don't need to manually clean out usermanager sessions every week :lol:
How many 'rc' releases until the final?

Nice changes in the winbox

1) "Hide passwords" - FINALLY
2) windows name now is "someone@x.x.x.x (id) - winbox v3.0rc8 on RB333" - no more confusions with "what was that hardware?"
With great knowledge comes great responsibility, because of ability to recognize id... incompetent people much faster.

Hide passwords is a nice feature, but it's not implemented correctly. I can still see all my ppp secrets. Also, instead of making it stick out like a sore thumb on the main menu bar, just use a key icon and put it in the right click drop down menu with CPU, Memory, and Uptime.

WTF?? :shock: It is correct and it is called HIDE PASSWORDS!!! not hide ppp secrets. If you don't want others to see ppp secrets simply don't open secrets tab at all. :)

all im trying to say is that if it's a global setting it should hide all passwords in winbox... if its limited to one module then put the hide passwords checkbox inside that module. It's ugly to look at and confusing if its not really hiding passwords throughout winbox. I'd imagine it's going to generate more support tickets than not and be a drain on the resources.

well, it works for me - if I check hide passwords, then all passwords in ppp secrets and in hotspot are hidden behind ****.

I know it's not called "Hide passwords in ppoe client", but i can still see those.

PPP secrets are hidden though.

If it doesn't work as expected, just drop a note to support at mikrotik dot com and they'll handle it. Just don't blame the beta software.

like I said, if it doesnt hide _all_ passwords and secrets, then don't put it on the top window likes its a global setting. put it within the ppp module window only. it's ugly up top and leaves less room for showing cpu meter on a tiny window. At least let you hide that option with Add/Remove drop down menu that's there.

ppp interface passwords still show. wireless passwords still show.
