Problem with User Manager on local router

After upgrading to to 3.0RC9 my routerboard 532, which is running a hotspot on the wireless and also running the User Manager system, now refuses to authenticate hotspot users via radius. I keep getting a RADIUS server timeout message. It was working perfectly before the upgrade. I tried removing the Radius entry and re-adding it, but this did not solve anything.
