Caller ID V3.? Missing!

Sat May 10, 2008 12:10 pm

After recent upgrades it seems.
(Not quite sure what version i didn't have this issue.)
Probably v3.7

PPPOE users under active connection had there relative "Caller ID"
However now all users Caller ID appear as "00:00:00:00:00:00"

What has happened now to make that dissapear?

Im sure it's a new issue introduced.

I don't think this is a universal issue since I haven't run across it. We also have a v3.7 box (x86) doing PPPoE concentration and our Caller-ID field is working just fine.

Are you trunking your PPPoE clients to your concentrator over some kind of tunnel by any chance (such as EoIP)?

well... are you sure that this info is wrong? :) we have had some users last year that had MAC address '00:00:00:00:00:00' =) and they worked perfectly with ROS =) we changed their NICs just because test ZTE routers didn't' understand zero MACs =)

Uhhh...LOL. That doesn't sound right, but if it works...

As far as the OP, I'll let him defend himself, but I'm assuming he knows his network and customers pretty well, and if he says that all of his past users that used to not show 0s now ALL have all 0s in their MAC, then that means something has changed. :)

I'm still not convinced it is 3.7's PPPoE server that is to blame, though, since as I said, ours works fine (and we don't have a single 00:00:00:00:00:00 MAC address on our entire network :) ).

No trunking what so ever.
Also sure it's not correct.

Reason being as per the pic nothing changed on the clients.
Same NIC, wireless equipment etc....

Only thing was the NAS doing pppoe. Then as you can see it started dropping all macs.

Flipping odd!!!

It just returned!

No changes in config anywhere!

I guess it's just the way the ROS crumbles!
