PPPoE Session Protocol using very high bandwidth

Sat Apr 02, 2005 4:18 pm

hi,
we are running about 15 mikrotik's all ver 2.7.20 which we found to be stable enough to handle more than 700 pppoe clients per machine,

My problem is that recently at a lot of places where the mikrotik is connected to a switched lan and the lan itself is extended around the whole block via other switches / hubs, randomly we get a huge inrush on the PPPoE interface ( no ip address assigned to this interface ) of PPPoE Session Protocol ( port port 34916 ) it goes up to almost 50mbps and then the clients will face intermittent problems connecting to the PPPoE Server ( mikrotik ) , we cannot find the source of this ingress normal torch does not show any thing if you select anything else than the protocol in winbox.

Problem does NOT occure on another MT without any active PPPoE connections,

average users online while this problem is faced is about 450+

any help on how to trace this problem.

thanks & regards
