1: yes (tftp server)
2: SIP phone provisioning, switch firmware, pxe boot for other machines.
3: use store for root directory, or make sure it works with folders (chrooted even?)
3: definately allow binding tftp server to an IP so responses come from same source.
3: ability to change requested filename, ie asked for 'boot.bin' but send '00:00:50:xx:xx:xx.boot.bin' (not necessary, just useful to serve alternate files based on requestor MAC)

1: yes (tftp server)
2: SIP (VoIP not only SIP) phone provisioning, switch firmware/config update/backup, pxe boot for other machines (mainly APs, IP-Phones etc).
3: allow binding tftp server to an IP.
3: allow for No access/Ro/Rw based on IP, MAC, ip+MAC
3: ability to change requested filename (just like remote boot diskless linux workstation with pxe), ie asked for 'kernel' but send /01:02:03/01:02:03:04:05:06.kernel' so it would be possible to distinguish vendors by 3 bytes of mac and to specify special files per mac (as for specific AP, specific IP-phone etc..)

Yes - a tftp server is a much needed addition to the router os "lineup".

2: Local upgrading of firmware based devises. i.e modems, switches | Provisioning. sip etc
3: RW Policies according to mac/ip address.

Yes, I would like to see TFTP in RouterOS.

I would use it for things like switch/router OS updates, IP phone configuration, and PXE booting of various devices. What comes to mind right this very moment is that I'm doing a PXE network install of Linux to a server, and the MT DHCP server either doesn't support, or doesn't appear to have the right settings, to configure a DHCP response to specific mac addresses to do:
host newinstall {
 next-server 192.168.1.1;
 filename "linux-install/pxelinux.0";
 hardware ethernet <MAC>;
 fixed-address 192.168.1.5;
}
Now I know how to do a static lease, but I just simply don't see any way to tell it the TFTP server IP, or the filename. It would be nice if a) the DHCP server could do that b) if the TFTP server could be on the MT router, so I don't have to have another TFTP server elsewhere.

Hi normis,

"I want my TFTP!"
I would like to be able to transfer files (like exports) from box to box without the need for an intermediate server.
Read only on the tftp server interface would be ok with me. Saves a lot of security headaches.
wget too. Script capable, of course. :D

You would need to pull the file to the target box, but I can do that with a script.

ADD: I preparation, I already have "array-to-CSV file" and "CSV file-to-array" routines here:

I used now ver. 3.21 on RB1000 and RB450
On both RBs TFTP is present and works, but only with internal NAND flash (CF storage not support in RB1000)
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

yes, it is so, tftp currently only works from system storage, and additional storage devices cannot be used.

Yes we could really use this. Many different devices could be served firmware upgrades as well as configuration file changes. Our specific application is voice.
