trigger scripts on system events?

Sat Feb 28, 2009 1:08 pm

Hi Guys,

I've been doing a bit of work with scripts lately, which is very cool :-)

Just thought I'd offer a suggestion that would make scripting even more useful - if we could trigger a script on other system events, like interface up/down, or a new dynamic entry on some list.

For example, right now, I wish there was a button on the arp table where I could enter the name of a script to run every time a new arp entry showed up, or one dropped off the list.

Other than that, routerOS does everything else I could possibly imagine ;-)

Cheers, Mike.

Oh, one more little thing:

It would be really EXCELLENT if we could add a timer on address list entries from the shell and scripts (like can be done with mangle rule)

Cheers!

I second this as well. Would be great if we could kick a script upon interface up/down event, or when a route check-gateway change status between reachable/unreachable.
