Eoip vrs IP Tunnel

Tue Mar 03, 2009 8:32 am

Hello

I am switching to a PPPOE Model and need to bridge over my routed network so I can have a PPPOE server at the office.

What's is the difference between an IP tunnel and a Eoip tunnel?

Thanks

:-)

IP Tunnel allows only layer 3 traffic (IP, TCP, UDP, etc) EoIP is layer 2, it allows much lower end protocols.

If you want to use PPPoE (Layer 2 technology) over a tunnel, it must be EoIP.

Chris
