Hello

I have about 1000 PPTP users terminating on a 3000Mhz server and its maxing out.
It only passes about 25Mbps
I tried duel core but it was worse, apparently PPTP server only used one core.

How many peopel have you guys stuffed on a PPPOE server?
Can I expect more?

Would a rb1000 handle it better?
The documentation says 1000's of PPPOE users

Thanks

:-)

I'd say its prob something more low level that's causing your issue... Queues, and more specfically, compression / encryption on ppptp ?

Encryption will cause a serious knock performance wise with that much traffic...

PPPoE and PPTP use same authentication mechanisms, therefore, if you use internal DB (/ppp/secret) that is optimised for about 100 users most probably cannot handle the amount of 10 times more than that.

you should go for user-manager, even if on the same server, that will work better.

Do you think that is causing the high cpu?

If I used radius would that fix it?

I disabled encryption but that had about 10% effect.

Thanks :-)
