dhcp relay and add-arp=yes

Mon Mar 09, 2009 10:07 am

I have a DHCP relay for some of my clients. They were not able to communicate after getting an IP address. I found the MT was adding the MAC of the relay to the ARP table instead of the client's MAC address. However, the DHCP table had the correct MAC. Is this working as intended or a bug. I would like to be able to use reply only on this interface. But, if the add-arp does not work correctly, I won't be able to.

Thanks,

Cory

What have you found out about this?

I have similar problem: one central DHCP server and few hotspots using DHCP relay. I'd like to use ARP mode reply-only on hotspots but I don't know how to set add-arp=yes on them. If I set add-arp=yes on DHCP server, ARP records are added to DHCP server and not to hotspots. Is it possible to achieve that or it is necessary to use DHCP server instead of DHCP relay on each hotspot as well?

So there is a very secret way to solve this, but only Mikrotik support can reveal it? :) (joking)

This is important!
Perhaps with scripts.
