Winbox and IPv6

Tue Mar 24, 2009 7:53 pm

It would be nice to be able to enter an IPv6 IP address in Winbox and connect.

Agreed. SSH, Telnet, and etc. services should be moved to IPv6 as well.

Mikrotik Team: If you need developers, let me know. I'd love to be involved in making the Mikrotk and Mikrotik products better.

Does anyone know if this ever happened? I tried using IPv6 to connect to winbox and ssh with RouterOS 4.5.. Both failed.

I need IPv6 Queue support as well.

It would be nice if all services supported IPv6.

I'm waiting for this too. We should be able to remove the IPv4 stack and still have a fully working router.

The more urgent is Winbox support and PPPoE IPv6 support.

I second this motion.
Look at RouterOS v5 (will be out in 1-2 weeks).

for the first basics - install ipv6 packet on the router

in CLI or in Winbox open /ipv6->address and add ipv6 address. by default /ip goes for ipv4

It took MikroTik 8+ months to develop v4 from v4beta1 to v4.0. A similar amount of time taken on v5 should get IPv6 on everything.

All routing protocols seem to be working, BGP, OSPFv3, RIPng. Firewall Filter & Mangle are also there. ND & PPPoE seem to be coming along.

Things to add or finish before 5.0 is finished:
Firewall Connection Tracking
Firewall Layer7 Protocols (or just let IPv6 rules use the IPv4 L7 definitions)
Queuing (Simple Queues,etc.)
IPv6 addresses able to entered into any address box (ntp, dns, Netwatch, watchdog etc.)
Telnet/SSH/Winbox client & servers
SNMP
web interface, webbox/webfig, webproxy
Bandwidth test
MPLS, VPLS, IPSec, EoIP, PPTP, PPPoE, OVPN, L2TP, VRRP clients & Servers
IPv6 Pools for PPPoE & DHCP

wishlist
DHCP (Mikrotik seems to not want to implement this)
Dude
Calea
AutoUpgrade
SwOS
Wireless Registration Last IP field
ProxyLizer
everything else that currently can do IPv4 (except for IPv4 only things like NAT,UPnP,etc.)

I would add that IPv6 and IPv4 stacks should be totally independant, so that we can remove later all IPv4 stuff to free up memory.
