RouterBoard Overheating?

Thu Mar 26, 2009 11:45 am

Hi Guys

I'm sitting with a hop running a RB433 with 1 x XR5 and 1 x R52H. The following happens... and it seems to happen only on very hot days. The router will just go dead and after about 30min it will start again - with no intervention. From here, it will sometimes run without problems, other times it will restart intermittently for a few hours. Otherwise the board is very stable. My conclusion is that the problem is caused by too much heat in the box? Its an outdoor router.

Are there some way to extract the heat from the box without getting moist inside?

Thx

you can also install a cooling fan in the bottom of the box. if you have moisture problems, put some silica-gel satchets in there :) some people even have put gore-text over the drilled holes. many people make such boxes, some you can find in our new MFM page:

Thanks for the insight. Going to make a plan with a fan! Much appreciated.
