Problem in routing traffic from wireless network to ethnet

Fri May 27, 2005 8:43 pm

I am unable to understand the problem in routing traffic from wireless network to ethernet network.
Here are some details of the scenario
I am using the private network of on wireless Network and a private network of on ethernet network.
Configuration of Wireless Interface are
IP =
SSID = test
default-farwordng = on
frequency = 2142

Ethernet Interface Configuration
Ip =
GW =

Ip routes are

0 S r 1 ether2
1 DC r 0 wlan2
2 DC r 0 ether2

The problem is that the packets of the wireless clients are not being forwarded to default Gateway. when i try to connect from wireless clients I can ping to ethernet interface of the router but cannot ping to default gateway, more ping to gateway from the router is successful but not from the wireless clients.

Please help me in solving this problem

Does your default gateway ( have the necessary route to the
wireless network pointing to your MikroTik router?

Yes, packets with a source address of 192.x.x.x(in your case) would have a path to your gateway, based on your default route, but your gateway doesn't know what to do with packets it receives from the outside that need to be sent to the 192.x.x.x subnet. You will need a route in the gateway router that sends packets intended for to Conversely, you could just set up masquerading between the interface and the interface....

Well, if you followed /setup you're IP ADDRESS should look like this: (24 is for not to broadcast whole subnet) network broadcast ether2 network broadcast wlan2
Then route should look like this:
Destination Gateway ether2 Pref. Source wlan2 Pref. Source ether2

Please, check you configuration one more time and consult the manual...
