First attempt at an upgrade to 3.26 from 3.25 on a x86 box did not succeed.

Copied over the relevant packages, rebooted and she's still on 3.25.

Mine lets me type user/password (and if I get them wrong, it tells me), but if I get them right, I get a 'failed to connect' error.

Mine worked OK, but it took about five minutes before the internal interfaces started working (despite the fact that the CLI showed them to be up and running.

That would be the problem. & we like to use the web interface to upgrade. I guess that will be changing for now. Just really dissappointed that a major fault like this wouldn't be included in the next release. But I understand the NAND problem and it's priority.

Re: v3.26 Released

Upgraded from 3.25 on a X86 machine (WRAP board).

A new -and disabled - ppp-out1 interface show up at interface list (I already have a PPP USB2 iface tied to a 3G modem). Original PPP iface config still there and everything still operating after upgrade (yes, there is a new advanced option icon there, APN field, L2 MTU, etc ...).

Sort of add a new one by default? :D

BTW: how can I send an AT+Cxxx cmd to force the modem to register at certain service providor (AT+COPS=? gives me back the actual providor. May be AT+COPS=XXX tells the modem to register at operator XXX) and to force the RF mode (GPRS > WCDMA > HSDPA)? What about a "custom AT commands fields/lines" at advanced mode?

Regards

Don't install 3.26!!!

RB433AH

After installing 3.25 get new software id. Because of bonding problem downgrade to 3.20.
Now upgrade from 3.20 to 3.26 and surprize: DEMO MODE!!! Downgrade to 3.25 and still in demo mode.
rb433ah.jpg
Downgrade to 3.20 and all O.K.

Now I will try upgrade 3.20 to 3.25, and then from 3.25 to 3.26.

After upgrade to 3.25: Demo mode
Can't update license key. Mikrotik sad: License key is already up to date

I will send supout file to support.

this is normal that it shows new long SoftID. just go to your account and find where it made the new key. it should be there. i don't know what you did to make it lose the key though

After I found problem with 3.25, downgrade to 3.20 and paste older license key I found in Files.
I don't knew I must to save new license key before downgrade. :(

How can I upgrade my OS if I haven't saved license key for long Software ID.
And why mikrotik say: "License key is already up to date"?
Or if license key is up to date why run in demo mode?

I had to downgrade to 3.13 and then upgrade to 3.26 to make it all work.

License key is intact (not sure what the issue is with that though).

One of my RB433AH (previously 3.25) died. Also RB532 died (previously 3.25).

As for 433AH - it upgraded, and it boots, but I'm unable to connect with anything. I attached a serial cable, and it just displays:

Mikrotik 3.26
Router Login:

but it doesn't let me enter anything. It looks like 100% CPU utilization or some sort of hang.
I tried even to use RESET button but it doesn't make any visible difference.

RB532 I don't know because it's some 600 km away. For now I know it stopped pinging after the upgrade. Big thanks. Fuck.

I used to be a first class supporter of Mikrotik, I have several dozens of those devices in my network, and people bought the same number because of my recommendations. But these problems are really starting to piss me off!!!

Regards.

Despite using the reset jumper, some part of the config seems intact (WPA-PSK keys are in place), but there are many errors as you may see above. And the device doesn't work.

I tried also "/system backup load" yesterday's backup, no luck.

Worst thing I've ever encountered with MT.

PLEASE HELP!!!

I have a similar problem with a 433AH. There has as to be a flaw somewhere!

When I read all the negative comments that are posted after a new release I become very concerned and hesitate when it comes to upgrading! I read threw the list of improvements, and fix’s and would like to take advantage of these fix’s but it seems that for every fix, a new issue pop’s up!

It’s becoming a real problem that is leaving me feeling disgusted, and distrustful!

I feel that if MikroTik doesn’t find a satisfactory way to address these issues soon they will find that they will have lost all trust, and their customers will start looking somewhere else!

Re: v3.26 Released

We are sitting here absolutely afraid to touch anything at this point. Cannot move the biz forward or anything. One group we work with tried to go from 25 to 26 and spent 4 hours recovering the board. We lost a major backhaul last night trying to upgrade 25 to 26. When we got the system on the bench, as the board would just reboot every 10 seconds and we had to replace the OS. The console was complaining about the filesystem being read only. It hadn't upgraded even! We had to use the serial interface to get it to netboot to an old version of the OS to recover the board! I sure hope that this is ALL that Mikrotik is working on right now as nothing is more important. Conferences/training/new features... All are worth squat when you have a product that no one would touch with a ten foot pole on your hands. This has the potential to wreck careers at a time that people are just looking for reasons to chop heads.

why do all of you just install new software without testing it with your configuration somwhere near you?????
and then blame someboby else for that....
i dont think that there is any urgent need to update a router as far as 600km away with a brand new untested release ...

8 routers upgraded without problems, RB1000, RB433AH, RB532, x86 among them.

What do you mean by "untested"?? Don't MT people test it?? Do they release software that don't boot ON PURPOSE? Come on, hear yourself.

Sorry, the inability to login was caused by my terminal emulation program (putty).

I managed to rescue the system.
1) I upgraded bootloader with "/system routerboard print" and "/system routerboard upgrade"
2) I changed boot device to ethernet
3) I used netinstall to downgrade to 3.24.

I tried to make supout but it was deleted during the downgrade :( I'll make one now and will send to you.

Regards.

Re: v3.26 Released

In v3.25 We found this problem the day it was released.

After trial and error we found that if you write a change to your bridge (ports - add or delete) and reboot it - it will NOT loose any more configs.

Took us awhile to solve problem and we reported ASAP to Normis via the forum.

In v3.26 I would recommend the same just to be sure on an upgrade from anything below v3.25.

BTW - my 1st upgrade was good - no problem.

Now to the "experts who say that we should expect this and we should not expect MT to test everything" - BS that is crap! Pure garbage - beta yes - real time production NO. Get your head out in the light and clean it - it smells bad - I'm still pissed about v3.25.

Now having vented on that - let me say from a wireless AP point of view - the OS has never worked better. Noise control is excellent and connections even thru obstruction is good - that combined with the UB NS2 and Loco CPE we are using we have a kick ass system and very happy with MT. I've tried a lot of other OSs and do not see a comparable product. AND besides - I like the guys @ MT anyway - their awesome.

The only problem with MT is the slow response to a realtime problem in a realtime production release - we are not the enduser that buys a router at Walmart - we are 24/7 service industry that demands and sells 100% uptime to a demanding customer. AND - we are admins - we are usually very good at solving problems and learning new products on the fly. I mean - some of you guys are truly amazing!! LOL! :D

I saw that ... but I already has a ppp-client interface on previous cfg ... no modem was plugged in 'cause it's already there. Just copied files using winbox and reboot. Fortunately the new interface was created disabled. Then I deleted it.

Later I'll try to reboot this box to see if a new disabled interface is created.

And - yes - the same DNS flushing behaviour, full cache size used all the time.

Hi guys, this memory leak issue is a source of some concern, as I was hoping 3.26 was going to fix the bugs present in 3.25 :S

Still using 3.24 until a better alternative presents itself.

MT: How is the progress going on resolving the reported issues?

Can any more people verify the memory leaks?

Kind Regards,

OMG - all this shouting because 1 small memory leak :) - disable DNS caching and wait for 3.27.

it is good that it was found so fast - in 2 days of release this version should still be in your test networks, so theoretically (if you are smart :) ) there is no harm done.

OK guys - here's what I'm "smoking" - now there's a professional comment.

Having said that - the first few that I did this am are now showing normal clock fields and 1 of the ones that I just finished have cleared. Several have not but it's only been in the last ten minutes. I'll wait and see and let you know if they all clear too.
BTW - this is 100% duplicatable.

Wow Normis - quick replies all night!!! :D

I use ONLY RB on my ENTIRE network - and this has happened on RB433 (the first ones) - BTW tangent (has the bootstrap updated lately - I'm using 2.19 on newer chassis and 2.18 on the older ones like RB153) - and the others were the CR RB and several RB133s and RB153s and RB500 series.

Thank you,

The only one that had not cleared by itself - I manually entered the time and date and it held with seemly no detrimental variation. I'll keep updating the rest of today and if I see anything else then I will report back.

PS - several hundred units to go - should be a long day

Isn't is SSSOOOOOOOO much better then Vista - almost as good as XP but I'm sure after a couple of service packs on the primary release it will be better.

It seems the older the RB chassis the longer the clock takes to clear - having said that there seems to be no other ill effects.

I'm gonna do the power outage test later towards noon (1130hrs) - and then I'll give a shout back.

Thank you,
Rod

yes, it is :)

This is because you have the default time 1/1/1970 (you didn't enable NTP client! or set the time) and you changed the timezone to be below GMT 0, this means that Windows can't show time before 1970, in you case it's 1969, because time is 5 hours before GMT :)

We will fix this anyway.

I upgraded 10 towers today, (7) RB532A’s and (3) RB433AH’s. I’m pleased to announce that I haven’t encountered any issues so far!

I upgraded from V3.22 to V3.26.

I just decided to take a leap of faith.

I hope everything’s still running ok tomorrow!

One of my RB433AH (previously 3.25) died. Also RB532 died (previously 3.25).

Affected devices are rescued using Netinstall and are operational now (using 3.26).
All other devices upgraded (models RB133, 193, 433, 433AH, 532, 1000, x86), no more issues encountered.
Some of them were 2.9.46 and 3.0, I upgraded directly to 3.26 and it went without problems.
I also upgraded routerboard boot code in all RB devices (/system routerboard upgrade).
Hope it'll never come back.

Thanks very much for nice rescue mechanism - Netinstall. It is really worth being learnt, it's worth to do a mock Netinstall on an unused device to get acquainted to it. Works 100% on Win7 RC.

Regards.
