RB411AR...well done MT Team, seams to be the reply to UBNT WISP Station http://www.ubnt.com/products/ws5.php.
Unfortunately the embedded interface is a 802.11b/g one, do you have in roadmap 802.11a version?

Normis,

I do not understand this function, can explain more?

"RB750 has a switch chip that will allow interport troughput up to the wire speed limit in ports 2-5 if switching is used."

Breno,

I can shine some light on this for you.

The RB750 uses a specialised type of chip to control network ports 2 to 5, this chip can act as a switch and will allow traffic between any of these ports to transfer without going via the RB750's main processor. This allows lower latency as well as higher speed on Layer 2 traffic.

Regards,

Andrew

KUDOS for the improved speed test! And the netbook winbox!
Any chance a winbox for mobile phones is in the works? Like for android or iphone or blackberry or windows mobile. (Android PLEASE!)

Mikrotik at DUBAI

Tue Aug 25, 2009 11:07 am

I believe that Mikrotik will be participating at The GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK this October 18-22 and i cant wait. Our company is planning to implement mikrotik around UAE and I believe that no one has done that yet.Your visit to this country will mark a new beginning for MT technology and I believe that this country will be a big market.

I agree a better web interface is a great idea, I would still very much like to see a (i)winbox for iPhone as it has wifi/3G, touch screen, landscape accelerometer and notifications which would make for an excellent config and monitoring tool for admins which a web interface could not do, or do as well. I've not used a blackberry or android devices, but I wouldn't use a Windows Mobile device until they completely rethink them, they're always locking up/crashing, but iPhone has quickly become an invaluable network tool, with proper web browser and a variety of apps (RDP, VNC, SSH,etc). A mikrotik (i)winbox for iPhone is the only one I'm missing at present. The power of winbox in my pocket without needing a laptop.

I would also prefer an "official" one that used the same connection methods as winbox and not require the api activated.

Please consider it.

I'm not sure that's the best idea.

I mean you can switch from Portrait to Landscape and have the interface adjust, say landscape is better for configuration and portrait for monitoring? Plus you can rotate it landscape left, landscape right, for different screens, etc

It would be nice to be able to use touch n drag to view several (i)winbox dialogs just like in winbox, or be able to focus on one.

Frankly, I've never found the "shake" function to ever really be used in a useful way.

Don't worry, that shake thing was meant as a joke ;)

More than likely, but sadly it is used in some apps, usually as a hindrance than a useful feature, even by more than just the "ifart" apps, so sadly some developers (and users?) think it's a good idea to use it. eg. to hide the interface buttons, which somehow it reacts to when you move it normally, you then have to shake it like a nutter several times to get the buttons back.

Should any mikrotik developers be reading this and considering an iPhone winbox app, just wanted to clarify that point. Nothing wrong with that, even in the midst of such hilarity.

Changed our WISP over to Mikrotik from STAROS almost completely. Great stuff guys. Dude is top notch and leaves my life livable and is the thing that swung my decision to go with Mikrotik. Well done lads. I got IPhone a month back and yes you guessed it. I too say please please please give us a iWinbox app for the iphone. I assume it must be something needs time which you probably dont have but I for one would not mind paying for it in the app store. We got Rage against the Machine number one for Christmas so now lets get iWinbox. Anyone who agrees with me give a reply please. Lets get this thing rolling in 2010. You know you want to Mikrotik.

you can use a remote desktop on your iphone to access a windoz computer and start winbox...

What is the others reasons that make You have change from staros to mikrotik ?
And did you need to change the hardware on the client side?
