what is "logged out (lost universal client)"

Tue Jun 14, 2005 5:04 pm

Hi everybody,

I have an unusual log-out text (lost universal client) on one of my users. I cant find it on any of the MT documentations.

Anybody who knows how to remedy this?

Robert

Are you running a MT with the Hotspot universal client feature enabled?

I am running MT with the ff: configuration.

DHCP server - "enabled"
= interface - ether1 (hotspot network)
= relay - unchecked
= lease time - 30 min
= Address pool - dhcp-pool
= Add ARP for Lease - checked
= Authoritative - checked

Hotspot Profile
= Mark flow- "hs-auth"
= login-method - "enabled address"
= keepalive timeout = 10 min.

Universal Client - "enabled"
= interface - same as hotspot
= address-pool - same as DHCP address pool
= respond to All ARP req. - checked
= Do not NAT DHCP clients - checked
= idle timeout - 5 min
= address Per Mac - 1

I am using SBR RADIUS server for AAA
= idle-timeout - 10 min.
= keep-alive - 15 min.

I activated DHCP server because most of my clients use automatic IP/DNS configuration. I also enabled Universal client feature to accomodate clients with pre-configured IP/DNS settings.
I dont know which of the time-outs take preceedence or which comes first.

Kindly give me an idea what is an "ideal" or "standard" time-out settings that other hotspots are implementing.

Thank you.

Robert
