Startup WISP: Network planning: routing? bridging? pppoe?...

Tue Oct 20, 2009 4:55 pm

Hi,

we are planning a WISP and some questions we have is about the network planning and which protocols to use. Mainly we are going to provide two services: internet access (with public ip address) and voip service (which will connect to our asterisk box inside our network).

The main question is to use routing or bridging for our CPEs. Is there any best practice or recomendation?

I have some concerns regarding bridging (due to broadcasts, arps, etc..)?

What about PPPoE? Any issue with voip?

Thanks,
Antonio
