Hotspot firewall issue

Tue Feb 16, 2010 6:24 am

Hi All,

Im having some difficulties with firewall rules when I have the hotspot service running on one of my MTIK routers. I have a staff vlan and a student vlan. members of the staff vlan need to be able to RDP to a server located on the student vlan, so to do this I have a firewall rule allowing staff to access the student vlan and another rule to allow established connections back to the staff vlan.
However when I enable the hotspot service on the student vlan the above rules no longer work. I have tried moving the rules I created to be at the top of the table above the dynamic rules that are created by the hotspot however this does nothing. the moment I disable the hotspot server, the server is accessible.

Thanks :D

Try this:
/ip hotspot ip-binding
add address=xx.xx.xx.xx type=bypassed

Change the x's to the ip of the server.
