New command syntaxes in new versions

Mon Mar 01, 2010 4:21 pm

Hi there Mikrotik,

I just discovered that you changed the syntax in /ip dns, with made my provisioning scripts fail.

Since this is a bit annoying for me, and possibly for many other users could you perhaps consider one or more of the following options?

1: Stop routerboards from completely ignoring the .rsc config you give them by netinstall if it has syntax errors.
2: Make routerOS understand obsolete commands, possibly through an environment variable or similar ($scripting_version = 4.4 or similar).
3: The easy, and less optimal option: In the changelog, write clearly, with big letters, exactly what commands have changed syntax and what the new syntax is!

+1 :)

I would add a 4th option: point us to somewhere where's updated information about the syntax for each version :)

Thanks!
