RB450G

Sun Apr 18, 2010 1:22 pm

Hello can somebody tell me if this routerboard(RB450G) can manage bandwidth 3-4 MB, to more than 150-170 clients ? The routerboard configure with firewall, masquerade and all the things. It will work ?

The structure of the network is: RB450G ( manage bandwidth over mac, filter, firewall) -> Switches ( mac server) -> switch -> Client .

So the total uplink speed is 3-4Mbit or each customer gets 3-4Mbit?

so ..... 3 MB, not Mb it will come to the rb450G and than 2 or 3 or 4 Mb, not MB i will have one client.

structure :

RB450G ( 3-4 MB, manage bandwidth over mac, filters ) -> cisco switches -> iptime switches -> clients (more than 150 -160 )

will work, whitout any crashes or reboot of the RB450G ???

Thank you.

I have rb450 with qos , hotspot , PPPoE server and with 10 users (on 1Mb) i have high cpu usage (and reboots from wachdog) and I must disable lot of firewall rules ... so for now it work normaly ... I will swich my config son back to x86 config .
So my opinion that is not strong if you have more than 20 users.

and I have ~80 pppoe users on a 450G with 16Mbit upstream and 3Mbit per user and about 80 firewall rules.
The device is pretty bored most of the time.

I have used RB450 with max 80 clients with simple queues and 4Mbit bandwidth without problems.
It all depends on the type of config you are going to use.

I would really believe it can handle the job.
