PPPoE dialing frequency

Sat Apr 24, 2010 2:48 pm

Is there any option to manage how often should the PPPoE interface
check for the connection?
I have experienced a situation where the input cable was removed from
the adsl modem, while it took nearly 2min for the PPPoE interface in mikrotik
to go down.

Thank you, Toni

I simulated a condition when the internet from ISP will go down.
So, I unplugged the adsl cable from the adsl modem, and it took
a long time before the pppoe interface went down too.
In cases when you use two adsl lines this is not good because
the backup line will take a while.

I was wandering if there is any option to establish on the pppoe client interface
to check about its connectivity with the server.

PPPoE dont drop connection beacose it whait command from server, and after some timeouts it disconnects, you better use 'Netwatch' script , if you need to disconnect the session
