Serial Port to Serial Port

Thu Apr 29, 2010 4:02 am

Hi Guys

I am trying to get serial data from a RB411 wireless data link to another RB411 so I have a serial port at end end of the link. I do not want to use a virtual comm port software.

I have searched and can not see a solution to this problem.

Have this been solved at all?

I can purchase a Serial to IP converter that will connect to the RB411, but would very much like to use only MikroTik equipment.

Cheers in advance.

You can use "/port remote-access"

That sets up the MikroTik to accept connections from a remote client.

Am I wrong here?

I want the MikroTik to be the remote client and connect to another MikroTik's Serial Port and have the two serial ports bridged.

Get an actual serial-IP converter.

Is this something that can be added into future MikroTik feature, to be able to remote into another MikroTik and have the data from the remote device come out the client?

Does anyone else think this would be use full?

I have tested with GPS data and the customer has been installing UHF and other radio equipment for over 10 years and they think that the MikroTik solution is the best preforming, but I do not want to use a third party converter.

I would love this option myself ...
