How to best configure 2 WANs same IP's for different traffic

Sat Jun 26, 2010 12:51 pm

Hi,
I'll be getting my second WAN connection installed in due course and I'm going want to split the network into 2 parts - but leave them on the same address range.

WAN1) 10 D/1 U - MB /// Be the main route source for IP range: 192.168.0.100-200
WAN2) 50 D/2 U - MB /// Be the main route source for IP range: 192.168.0.10-99

So for a basic overview:

What I would like to know is this possible to create?
I don't really want to separate the IP range as both networks need access to each other. The goal of the network is to have purely and only VOIP related data go through WAN1 and all other traffic go through WAN2.

If anyone has any better suggestions on how to go about this please let me know.

Sorry to be pushy on this, but is it possible to do a setup like this?
I can't think how it would be, but if anyone has any alternative solutions please let me know.

The main idea is to have VOIP lines go out over WAN1 and all other traffic go out over WAN2 - but allow all address to commuicate with each other.

It's definitely possible to do this and there are actually numerous posts/wiki pages on how to achieve this. They call it 'policy routing'.

Here's a nice example with pretty much the kind of setup you want: http://blog.butchevans.com/2008/09/mikr ... n-example/
Only the outgoing (WAN) traffic would be separated via 2 gateways, while all the devices on the LAN can still communicate with each other.

My please and thanks for the karma points :)

Here are another 2 examples that might be of interest (with the first one being pretty much the same as the first example):
