Proxy redirect to file in RouterOS, Is it possible?

Mon Sep 13, 2010 10:43 pm

Hello, I did my configuration according to this tutorial (http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Payment_Reminders)

It works great with a payment image I've got in my website. I specified the dst-address (xxxxxx) and use redirect to: http://xxxxxx/payment.png

The only problem is that sometimes, the destination address of my website changes due maintainment and I have to change the webproxy configuration.

Is it possible to open the image from the RouterOS itself?, If I upload the image to /webproxy/payment.png, How can I redirect the request there?

My gateway ip is 192.168.0.254, I tried allowing the gateway address and redirecting to: http://192.168.0.254/files/webproxy/payment.png but it does not work.

Does anybody have deal with this issue already?

Thank you in advance.

You cannot use the router as a web server like that.

If you need it to be done on the same device your best bet is a metarouter or KVM virtual machine that in turn runs a web server. That will, however, take quite some resources. Why does the destination IP address of your web server change regularly? Can you use dynDNS or changeIP or such a service to automatically update the DNS records on IP change so you don't need to change the proxy configuration?

It doesnt change so often, but I asked support and told me that the IP can change if the have to move my hosting to another server. This things happend sometimes without the user even notice.

I don't know where to use dyndns or noip.org if the dst address IP have to be enter manually on the webproxy config.

Thank you for your answer.
